Slump in Greater Manchester planning as developers await housing strategy

Residential planning activity in Greater Manchester has slumped in the last 18 months, with developers submitting plans for just over 1,000 new homes in Q3 2018 – down from 11,000 at the start of 2017.

Developers have stayed quiet in recent months as they await the delayed Greater Manchester Spatial Framework to outline housing targets and strategy across the city region.

While activity is visibly taking place in Manchester city centre, the question turns to what will happen to development in the future.
