US REIT Sun Communities is understood to be close to buying UK holiday park operator Park Holidays, for £1bn.
Park operates some 30 sites across the UK, with campsites and static caravans and lodges. The majority of its sites are in the south of England.
Park was bought by Intermediate Group Capital for £362m almost five years ago, and hired Royal Bank of Canada and HSBC to oversee the sale of the business recently.
Starwood Capital and Universities Superannuation Scheme are also understood to have bid for the firm.
