Two of the country’s best-known retail investment agents have quit.
Barry O’Donnell, Cushman & Wakefield’s head of UK shopping centre investment, has left the business. It is understood he is to establish a niche firm after a period of gardening leave.
O’Donnell joined DTZ in 2012, prior to its 2015 merger with Cushman, as an international partner in its retail capital markets team from niche firm Lewis Ellis, where he formed part of its multi-sector investment advisory team for six years. Before that, he worked at JLL for nine years.
A spokesman for Cushman said: “He leaves with the company’s best wishes.”
James Findlater, director and head of UK shopping centre investment at Colliers International, has also resigned in order to relocate to Bristol and pursue other interests. He is not teaming up with O’Donnell.
Findlater joined Colliers in 2014 when it bought niche retail agent Briant Champion Long. He was a partner in the investment team at BCL for three years before becoming head of shopping centre investment at Colliers following the deal.
Before that, Findlater worked at JLL for more than 10 years, where he was latterly a director in its capital markets team.
James Watson, head of retail capital markets at Colliers, said: “James has made an important contribution to Colliers during his time here. We fully understand his decision and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
