U+I has brought in Capco’s managing director Mike Hood as its new director of development to drive forward the company’s pipeline of projects post-coronavirus.
Hood will help roll out U+I’s efficiency programme, designed to “cut overhead costs and deliver a leaner operation ready to play its part in the UK’s recovery”, the company said.
He will join creative director Martyn Evans, director of delivery Mark Richardson, and director of planning Malcolm Hockaday in the day-to-day running of the company.
Hood will help the developer seek development sites either in partnership with the public sector or smaller private developers to bolster its pipeline.
Hood spent a year as managing director of Capco, and a total nine years at the company.
Prior to this, he was owner and director of his own development management services business, Firebird, from 2010-2013.
Before this he spent seven years at London-based property company MacDonald Egan Developments and a year as a consultant at DEGW.
Richard Upton, chief development officer of U+I, said: “At a time when U+I’s portfolio of large, mixed-use public private partnership schemes is perfectly placed to deliver on a growth-from-recovery agenda led by the government and local authorities across the country, Mike’s arrival at U+I could not be better timed.
“Mike is an exceptional developer with vision and an extraordinarily good pedigree who will galvanise our regeneration team, creating a single purpose with colleagues across our delivery, finance and acquisitions teams.”
