U+I has hired Jamie Christmas as chief financial officer.
Christmas will join the board on 17 May as an executive director and will take on the CFO role on 19 June, when Marcus Shepherd steps down.
The appointment follows a shake-up of the listed regeneration specialist’s leadership team at the start of the year, amid losses and declining valuations, during “an incredibly challenging period” for the firm.
This saw the resignation of Shepherd and chief executive Matthew Weiner, with chief development officer Richard Upton taking over as chief executive.
Christmas has 17 years of experience in real estate, private equity and financial services. He was most recently CFO at RCL Partners, a large family office with global real estate investments. Prior to this, he was CFO at Round Hill Capital and also held senior positions at Coller Capital, CBRE Global Investors and DTZ Holdings.
Upton said: “Jamie joins U+I at an exciting time for the group as we seek to capitalise on opportunities created by structural changes in behaviours from the Covid-19 pandemic and supportive government economic recovery policies. His fresh energy and extensive expertise in the real estate sector will be enormously valuable.”
Christmas added: “Now is a pivotal moment for U+I as it simplifies and refocuses its business.”
The business will present its forward-looking strategy on 26 May.
