West Mids mayor Andy Street on the Spring Statement

MIPIM 2018: West Midlands mayor Andy Street talks to EG editor Damian Wild about the funding announced in the Spring Statement for the combined authority.

Listen to the full podcast below.

The West Midlands is the first authority in the country to sign a housing deal with the government which will unlock £350m of new funding, and specifically a brownfield remediation pot of £100m, in exchange for a commitment to build 215,000 new homes.

“It is support for housing markets in the West Midlands that are not the most dynamic but have pent-up demand if we can convert brownfield land,” said Street.
