China is considering plans to open a new embassy where the Royal Mint once stood near the Tower of London, as it looks to strengthen its ties with the UK.
The Chinese government is in talks with the owners of the site, which includes a grade II listed building. The Royal Mint moved to Llantrisant in Wales in 1975.
The embassy would be housed in a 600,000 sq ft campus, which would also include educational and cultural centres, according to the property trade magazine Estates Gazette.
