Yusen Logistics UK has become the first occupier to take space at SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton.
Yusen has prelet almost 1.2m sq ft on a 15-year lease at the development. It will become the firm’s largest facility globally. Yusen currently occupies 210,000 sq ft at SEGRO’s Grange Park, also in Northampton.
SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton is understood to be the biggest warehouse in the Midlands. The scheme is targeting BREEAM Excellent and will have photovoltaic panels and 220 EV charging units. It is expected to be fully operational by summer 2025.
Dan Holford, head of national markets at SEGRO, said: “We’ve been working hard to create the infrastructure and develop this site in preparation for the first warehouses.
“SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton not only represents a critical piece of our national industrial infrastructure for storing and transporting goods, it is enabling employment and economic growth and doing so with sustainability at its heart.”
SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton spans 600 acres. It is located next to junction 15 of the M1 and the strategic rail freight interchange, which connects to the West Coast Main Line via the Northampton loop line. Construction of the terminal is complete and Network Rail is scheduled to undertake the signalling work to connect the terminal to the rail network in the autumn.
